Rebecca Wolske is a self-taught textile and mixed media artist since the early 2000’s. She likes to recreate the ‘atmosphere’ that a piece will portray, a misty morning in the bush or the flutter of autumn leaves falling to the ground, the challenges she faces to make the piece as authentic as possible is what drives her work. Rebecca likes to challenge herself by always trying ‘something new’, whether it’s recreating glass, leaves, bark, grass, water or feathers there is always something new she discovers and loves the journey of exploration in textiles and stitch.
A simple leaf, look closer!
Under the microscope it looks so different,
Nothing like the leaf we see with our naked eye,
individual cells, almost like a bee hive,
it seems almost from another world.
