My latest work has been dealing with thoughts, feelings and emotions. Becoming more abstract in my approach has helped me express this.

Statement: Tempers flare, harsh words exchanged and disputes blown out of proportion. Days, months and years may pass without contact or closure. Yet the family connection still flows through our veins. Red represents our blood and purple the pride that often prevents healing..

Statement:  In 2020 Melbourne went into stage 4 lockdown, residents were only allowed to exercise for one hour a day. Despite the scenery, birds and flowers, all their thoughts were on the number of Covid cases and the news reports.

“Represented here are some of the plankton species that drift in the oceanic currents, at the very foundation of life, largely responsible for the very oxygen we breathe.”

Materials: Discharged silk, black bat, cotton backing
Techniques: Free-hand machine embroidery/quilting, tinted post stitchery with Derivan dyes
