I come from a family of makers and made my first quilt at age 8 years. I was permanently changed when at age seven, my grandfather showed me the beautiful prints achieved by leaving a pair of discarded leather riding gaiters and a canvas water bag covered with eucalyptus leaves under old steel and water pipes under a tree near the old homestead. I now use eco-printing and botanical dying techniques and often incorporates shibori techniques into my pieces. My quilt art practice is focused on creating textile memoryscapes – pieces that recall and preserve memories of an environment, a place, a feeling, an idea or a person.
