Julie Tasker, Petrie, Queensland

Facebook: Julie Tasker Textiles
E-mail: julestasker@gmail.com

One of Julie’s earliest memories is of sitting beside her Mum in the sewing room, ‘sewing’ holes in paper on a toy plastic machine. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Julie is drawn to explore ways of depicting animals or themes from nature in much of her work. Cutting, sewing straight and getting corners to meet she admits aren’t natural strengths, which is why she loves making art quilts! Raw-edge applique, thread sketching, free-motion quilting and wet felting are her most-loved methods of working.

Julie has won awards at the Harare Patchwork and Quilting Show in Zimbabwe and at the Ekka and Queensland Quilter’s Shows in Australia. She has also taught textile classes online and in-person in felting and thread sketching.
