Lorraine Rogers lives in a coastal region of Victoria. The abundance of water and birdlife nearby provokes and inspires many of Lorraine’s ideas. Lorraine has a keen interest in photography, selectively choosing her subjects to create her unique collages. Open source software programs are utilised to manipulate and refine her imagery. The digitally painted design is then printed out in colour at the desired size and becomes her working pattern. Photo imagery features in her artwork Melbourne in the Rain.
I love the luminescent colours reflecting on city streets at night during a heavy rainstorm. Colours mirrored onto nearby wet roads from cars, streetlights & shopfront windows. People scurrying along under their umbrellas trying to escape the downpour as water gushes along the gutters disappearing down into city drains.
