Julie-Anne Rogers of Narara, NSW has always mixed her media, even as a child. She loves combining photography, sketching, painting and stitching.
Julie-Anne’s love of nature meant that she was profoundly affected by the devastation of the 2019/20 bushfires. Since then she has focused her art on the fires and the recovery of nature, using the photos that she took locally after the event. She wants to make sure that we don’t forget and that we take steps so it doesn’t happen again.
During the 2019/20 bushfires in Australia I was still commuting each day to my day job. During the day the view from my train was simply orange. I couldn’t see much else. During my evening commute the winds picked up and I could see the river and burnt flying embers.
