Today’s preview of the Australia Wide Six exhibition is And the Wheels go Round #2 by Sue Reid of Kyabram, Victoria. Sue has always loved colour and design and painted abstracts in oils in her early years. Sue is a mathematics teacher by profession, and this is reflected in her penchant for pattern.
In 1998 Sue left teaching and enrolled in a patchwork course and made her first quilt. She discovered that it was the quilting she enjoyed and not the piecing, quilting was when the quilt came alive.Colour, shape and stitch are her inspiration. She is driven by colour especially oranges of all shades, and her quilts reflect this.
AW6 Preview is a series of daily blog posts from 29 July to 31 August 2018 that will feature an artist and preview their artwork from the Ozquilt Network members’ exhibition Australia Wide Six. The exhibition will premiere at 76 Queen Street Galleries, Concord West, Sydney 31 August – 18 September 2018 and continue on tour until September 2020.
