Today’s preview of the Australia Wide Six exhibition is Shattered Hope by Marie Mitchell of Perth, Western Australia. ‘Hope springs eternal’…these words epitomise the courageous spirit of refugees fleeing their homeland to escape conflict and persecution. Hope sustains them through arduous overland treks, years living in limbo in tent cities, and perilous sea journeys in search of safety, only to have hope shattered when abandoned in offshore detention.
The official opening of Australia Wide Six is on Saturday 1 September 2018 in conjunction with the Ozquilt Network annual general meeting and forum The Art of Curating presented by Brenda Gael Smith (10am-3pm). Bookings essential – BOOK ONLINE by 20 AUGUST.
