Exhibition Countdown: 6 days to go!
Today’s preview from the Australia Wide Six exhibition is Garden of the Everlastings 1 by Jane Stone of Como, Western Australia. Slow textile techniques, in Jane’s art practise, have become a form of meditation and an artistic language. She uses a series of drawn stitch lines, and a limited colour palette of embroidery thread. The stitch play of line, colour and texture creates a sense of space. Through observation and sight, Jane uses her needle and thread like a pencil. Jane says, ‘I have freedom to build up interesting surface textures and patterns. I can work on small pieces and large pieces. Pieces can be later finished in my studio’.

AW6 Preview is a series of daily blog posts from 29 July to 31 August 2018 that will feature an artist and preview their artwork from the Ozquilt Network members’ exhibition Australia Wide Six. The exhibition will premiere at 76 Queen Street Galleries, Concord West, Sydney 31 August – 18 September 2018 and continue on tour until September 2020. Please direct any exhibition queries to AW6@ozquiltnetwork.org.au
