From the Gallery:
Quilting, once a utilitarian skill, has evolved over the years into a highly personalised form of self-expression. Australia Wide Four is an exhibition which presents a selection of artworks created by members of Ozquilt Network Inc.(OZQN), which make use of this old craft form to engage with contemporary concerns.
The process of creating a quilt is time consuming and involved, requiring creativity and precision. These small, intimate works invite the viewer to spend time considering them. Get lost in the detailed stitches, meandering lines, striking colours and intricate patterns of these sensitive, quilted works.
Founded in 1998, OZQN has a long and respected history promoting excellence in contemporary quilt making in Australia, and is the only organisation holding regular exhibitions of quilts in Australian art galleries. This is the fourth touring Australia Wide exhibition of work from OZQN.
