In the exhibition Forest Threads, the printed image, eco dyeing, textural surfaces and embellishment are the threads that merge in the creation of textile art. Linda Balding works with the tactile nature of fabrics, the clarity of print and the variety of dyed hues, natural and synthetic, to highlight the beauty of the bushland environment.
Her art quilts blur the lines between art and traditional quilting with the focus on the art work rather than the quilting process. The exhibition also includes dyed/printed silk hangings and a series of fabric and photo collages which focus on close up details of the forest.
