Ozquilt Network Inc, in partnership with The National Wool Museum, presents the best of Australian art quilts in two extraordinary exhibitions, one location with:
- Art Quilt Australia 2015, a series of biennial open juried exhibitions with entries from Australia, New Zealand and Ozquilt Network members worldwide; and
- Australia Wide Four, a touring exhibition featuring a range of innovative works, all quilts a strict dimension of 40cm x 40cm.
New for 2015, the Art Quilt Australia exhibition features Expressions: The Wool Quilt Prize. The National Wool Museum’s nationally recognized biennial acquisitive art prize; established in 2000 to: “encourage excellence in contemporary art quilt making and promote the use of wool.” Winning quilts becomes part of the National Wool Museum’s nationally significant collection of quilts and waggas.
The prize winners were announced at the AQA15 opening Friday 23 October as follows:
Expressions: The Wool Quilt Prize (Acquisitive Prize)
- Winner: Lisa Davis, The Art of Record Keeping
- Highly Commended: Yvonne Line, Ode to the Shearer
Ozquilt Network Newsletter 25th Anniversary Award of Excellence ($3000)
- Winner: Alvena Hall, Arboreus: Ediacara Suite 2015
- Highly Commended: Frances Schifferli, Warmth
- Highly Commended: Peggy Lyon, Contested Ground
Artist Development Award ($500)
- Winner: Ronda Hazell, Woman of the Wagga
- Highly Commended: Pat Forster, Lit from the Left: Monuments and Stairs
