In today’s preview of Art Quilt Australia 2023, we feature De-nature#1 Aquifer:yesterday, today and tomorrow made by Margery Goodall of Western Australia. This works is made from recycled materials including caps from 480 bottles, 140 water bottle labels and shrink wrap bottle packaging.
Australia is dry and water is precious. In 2017, Australians bought over 118,000 tonnes of plastic water bottles, with a water cost of 3-7 litres per bottle. This work is about our ‘journey’ with bottled water: from fascination to potential catastrophe. Sipping pretty-pretty oblivious-pretty dead aquifer!
