Lynne Hargreaves of Legana, Tasmania has two works in Art Quilt Australia 2023 from her Apple Isle series.
Frozen was inspired by a very cold and bright morning drive to Hobart and a retreating landscape glimpsed in her rear-view mirror. The work captures the brilliance of colour, belying the cold of the frozen fields which the sun had yet to touch and early mists still lingering amongst bare branches.
Ploughed Fields in a Van Gogh sky is made from a recycled wool blanket and wool mill offcuts. “There is an art to everything …and art in everything. My work took inspiration from a tractor driver’s canvas of ploughed fields just north of Oatlands. Impressed by the precision and whimsy of concentric circles circling stands of trees I abstracted the textures and colours to depict an autumn landscape.”
