June has always enjoyed drawing and needlework from a very young age. She became interested in patchwork and quilting during the early 1980s.Traditional designs were the starting point but very soon she began changing these designs and developing her own ideas and style.
Inspirations for her designs are always taken from aspects of Australia. June has been inspired by the many elements of texture, colour and atmosphere from which to draw. She loves the remote places where she and her husband enjoy camping places that generate feelings of peace and artistic enthusiasm.
Over the years she has attended many classes conducted by both Australian and overseas teachers. She has done some teaching and has successfully exhibited her work in many exhibitions. Fabric designs have been developed from white homespun, using a range of techniques from basic colouring and printing to more complex methods of enhancement. It is this range of possibilities which has led her to the small Art Quilts which she has enthusiastically produced. June is currently enjoying experimentation with natural dyes on silk and wool.
