My initiation into the world of patchwork occurred approximately 15 years ago when I was recovering from an unwelcome but necessary bout of chemotherapy.
Over the years I have dabbled in many areas of patchwork, but after completing some studies in design and colour as part of a Diploma of Fine Art, I began to make art quilts that reflect the Australian landscape and its vegetation.
Having the opportunity to travel to many unique and fascinating parts of our continent, I am constantly challenged to reproduce these images in fabric.
My quilts feature extensive machine embroidery and hand dyed and painted fabrics.
What began as a therapy developed into a passion and has given me the chance to meet lots of wonderful people and travel to many parts of Australia and overseas.
Travelling to many states in Australia, I enjoy conducting workshops for small groups of country quilters as well as teaching classes for larger guilds in major cities. In recent years I have taught classes in Japan, New Zealand, United states, United Kingdom, Europe, and South Africa.
For the past four years I have curated an exhibition of contemporary Australian quilts titled "A Slice of Oz" which have been on display at a number of major quilting events in California, Michigan and New Hampshire. I have also been invited to judge a number of exhibitions. My quilts have been featured in a number of Australian quilting magazines as well as many overseas publications.
